Syran Ociralin's Story

This section documents the story of the life (and death) of a character which I created that inspired me to make this site. The world he lives in is a complex medieval land with many different cultures and races. Also many of the ranks and titles for different characters that enter his life are written in the Latin language. I will include a key at the bottom of the page to make the story easier to understand.

Syran Ociralin <^> Race: Male Human <^> Origin: Elanthia

Syran Ociralin grew up in the city of Elanthia. Born almost eighty years after the ascension of evil came upon the lands of Voldaria, he quickly learned to fend for himself. Both of his parents had died while he was still relatively young and he was sent out to live and assist the soldiers on the eastern front of the New Alliance.

In order to understand what has happened to the world I must first explain what had occurred years earlier. Many years earlier, before the War of the Gods and the Dominion of Afdas over the lands there was a priest of Mobius, Sacerdos Elias Tristar. This man had a great reputation as a hero throughout the land. He was guarding the Locke Castle with a group of mercenaries when Afdas unleashed his forces upon the unknowing castle occupants. Sacerdos Tristar fought bravely against the evil forces of Afdas, however he was soon captured by the god, whom exiled him from the lands for a century long. The diety Afdas swore that evil would reign upon Voldaria until the priest would return. After this battle had finished, the forces of evil spread from the depths of the caves and the Forest of the Damned. The southern city of Sorna was soon conquered by Afdas' troops. Luckily Regnator Daggoth MacBride was able to escape the razing of his city. He journeyed north to forewarn the others of this new threat. In an attempt to form some sort of resistance to Afdas, the existing countries met together. The Kingdom of Lorgeon was represented by Regnators Seridia and Onelide Grayn whom were both daughters of the previous king, the Imperial Nation of Armon was represented by Imperator Dalmas Norien, and the United Council of Samuria was represented by Consiliator Xi Liong. This discussion resulted in the forming of these former enemies into the New Alliance to collectively defend Voldaria from Afdas' evils. In the first battle, which took place in Nemesis' Haven, all of the leaders lost their lives except for Regnator MacBride, whose life was saved by Mobius. MacBride was brought to the Castle del Noro, where he served as the leader of the New Alliance until his death some thirty years later. During his reign he managed to secure a large area of large and successfully defend it from the opposition. These lands within the protection of the New Alliance were a haven for all things good for the many years to come.

Now that this general knowledge is understood we may return to the life of young Syran. He had become quite a reputable page to the soldiers by his sixteen passing of the seasons. Showing skill in both swordsmanship and tactics he was soon offered a position in the Elanthian guard. He quickly accepted this and returned from the eastern front to his city of birth. Custos Ociralin was one of the more prominent guards in the city, however he was respected very little by his colleagues because of his young age. Early on in his career himself and a greatswordsman in the city, Latronis Zieron Caraedoc, developed a strong rivalry as they were both excellent swordsmen and had met many a time in spars. Latronis Caraedoc was a veteran of war, he had fought in great battles along the New Alliance borders and considered the youthful Custos Ociralin a threat to his reputation. Syran had also met the acquintance of a rogue warrior by the name of Jilakin. Jilakin was a lizardman and like Syran, an excellent swordsman. The two would practice together quite often and compete in mock tourneys of battle in Elanthia and other cities in the alliance. Such was Custos Ociralin's life as he neared his twentieth passing of the seasons.

We must return to the story of Sacerdos Tristar at this time. The priest's term in exilement had nearly ended, as he had wandered a strange and endless desert for a hundred years. He appeared outside the gates of a large town called Doorn. Much time had passed since he last set foot in Voldaria and everything he knew and loved was now gone. Also, the people of the New Alliance would not believe his story and identity. The fact that he would return had become a myth, tied into the local folklore, a story which few truly believed.
